INTRODUCTION
This is a test to see whether people can discriminate between the voices. You will hear a short audio clip and then be asked to choose which voice you think you heard from one of the nine options.
The definitions of the nine voices are as follows:-
Advocate: pushes a case or argues for a viewpoint
Challenge: interrupts to improve what is happening
Diagnose: analyses to turn information into understanding
Inquire: questions open-mindedly to understand others
Articulate: describes and clarifies in a precise, neutral, matter-of-fact way
Evaluate: evaluates objectively, both strengths and shortcomings
Probe: digs deeper to uncover more
Advise: suggests a course of action
Direct: calls attention to a responsibility, standard or boundary
You may wish to print a copy of these definitions to have beside you while you do the test.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE TEST
Please read these instructions carefully before you start
Listen to each audio clip in turn and decide which ‘voice’ you think the speaker is using.
Press play to start the clip. Please listen carefully, as you will hear each clip only once. Select which voice you think it was by checking the box that names that voice.
You may not return to change your answer.
If you don’t recognise a voice, or can’t decide, you can select Don’t Know as your answer.
We anticipate that the whole test will take between 10 and 12 minutes to complete. Please try to make sure that you complete the test in one sitting and that you are free from distractions for this time.
Before you get to the Test itself, we have three example clips, so you know what to expect and how to enter your answers.
Start on these example questions as soon as you’re ready by clicking on Quiz 1.
Then, when you are ready to start the test itself, move on to Quiz 2.
At the end of Quiz 2, we will show you how many voices you identified correctly.
