The self-perception questionnaire asks a total of questions about each of the 9 , a total of 81 items. The ‘overall’ scores for each voice comprise the sum total for the 9 items for each voice and these scores are used to construct the black and black graphics.

The ‘pressure’ scores are derived from a of the original 9 questions, specifically from 4 items which represent forms of each voice, for instance, ‘sounding like a scolding parent’ is a form which can easily sound to the hearer more like than directing.

The purpose of the pressure profile is to establish whether the profile owner’s shifts under more circumstances, and also to explore what the individual experiences as negative/debilitating and positive/stimulation pressures respectively.
