Session 6: Presenting your first practice case

Aim: To provide participants with an opportunity to share learning from their practice cases, and receive feedback against the criteria for accreditation.

Objectives: By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Feel confident to facilitate the exploration of a VoicePrint self-perception profile with its owner
  • Feel competent to formulate hypotheses and questions about a profile and to offer these as ways of helping the profile owner to obtain useful insights and action points
  • Accept that the VoicePrint practitioner’s role is primarily to facilitate a process of sense-making, rather than to deliver an expert interpretation
  • Understand which aspects of your own profile & sensitivities need to be managed so as not to undermine the quality of your facilitation.

To complete this session you will need to:

  • Carry out the first of your two personal practice cases
  • Present your first practice case in an individual call with the course facilitator.

The details on how to set this up your practice case are found in session 4.3, alongside useful resources to guide your profile exploration and to reflect on it.

Once you have completed your case, contact XXX to arrange a date and time for an individual Skype or telephone call. During this call you should present your case for 15-20 minutes, framed around the 10 questions below. The facilitator will then ask additional questions to guide your learning.

Exploring a profile with its owner – 10 guiding questions

  1. What was the context in which VoicePrint was completed by the VoicePrint owner?
  2. What initially struck you about the profile when you first saw it?
  3. How did you feed back and facilitate interpretation with the VoicePrint owner?
  4. What did the VoicePrint owner learn about himself/herself?
  5. What did you learn about the VoicePrint owner?
  6. What did you learn about the process of interpretation and feedback?
  7. What actions (if any) did the VoicePrint owner commit to?
  8. What actions (if any) did you commit to?
  9. With what consequences?
  10. 10.What further development do you feel you need as a VoicePrint practitioner?

During this session, the facilitator will be making notes against the VoicePrint accreditation criteria and will use this to provide formalised feedback to you, after the call. This will help you to identify which areas you have not yet demonstrated, or need to develop further through your second practice case, in order to gain VoicePrint Practitioner Accreditation. Note that you are not expected to cover all of the accreditation criteria in your first practice case alone!
